Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar with his folk-based pop songs most of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He fell in love with Colorado and moved to Aspen. Denver's famous anthems about Colorado have inspired many people to make the move to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame said that John Denver is the only musician to truly embody Colorado. Denver is the Hall of Fames' first inductee, was honored with this honor in 2011. He has become the personification of Colorado for many people across the globe. In my journeys, you come across someone on the opposite end of the planet, or someone from New Zealand and you say 'I'm originally from Colorado and the first thing out of their mouth is Oh John Denver! Brown clarified. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short career performing in small folk bands included Take Me Home Country Roads co-written with Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the tune in the spirit of Johnny Cash, but Denver discovered an early version of the song and realized the song would be a top 10 hit. The song was first recorded several weeks after the Washington D.C. performance.
